Why You Love Louisiana
I have lived here since I was a baby...over 60 years! Most of all I love the people. I also love the music, the food, the festivals and the many historical sites.
Your Favorite Louisiana Bands
Rockin Doopsie
Your Favorite Louisiana Food
Catfish!!! Also boiled crawfish, boiled shrimp, fried crawfish tails, red beans and rice, corn bread and greens, fried chicken and tater salad.
Your Favorite Louisiana Memories
Going to Mardi Gras, crawfishing in the swamps, camping out at Fouchon, going to festivals.
Your Favorite Places to Visit in Louisiana
New Orleans tops the list for me as it is so very unique and interesting.
Things you have not done in Louisiana, but would like to
Go to the Crawfish festival in Breau Bridge. Go see the Angola Prison Rodeo. And always wanted to visit the west coast area of the state.
Your Hurricane Story
We did not leave for Katrina but thought about it as we have a mobile home. Really had no were to go and no extra $$$ to go on. It wasnt too bad here but we did get hurricane force winds. We live on US 61 which is a major evacuation route out of NO so couldnt get out the driveway at that time due to traffic. Also right after the storm that was the only direct route for help to get into NO. Boy did we see some stuff pass down this road and the helicopters overhead constantly! We had no electric for 8 days and that means no well water but the landlord had a generator on the sewage pump!! Spent most of that time sitting in the truck, a/c running, listening to WWL and crying for those so hard hit and desperate. It is something I will never forget. After the storm I worked at Lamar Dixon helping with the rescued cats. We ended up adopting four cats that were victims of the storm.

Click here to see my Magnolia Fleur-de-Lis Rings, Necklaces & Bracelets!

Many of the ladies from Louisiana suggested a Fleur-de-Lis on a flower. I created a Magnolia with the Fleur-de-Lis!
I finished the design on time for Spring!
Thank you all for your great suggestions.

greetings folks - I'm still here in Santa Barbara - if you want to write me directly - write to BayouAzalea@aol.com. I don't come in here often and can't figure out what the point system is all about. I am working on my 5th book right now - it's called Sunday Mornings, Crowning Glories - black women in the churches down near where I grew up - Franklin, La. I will be back down in June for six months - thanks for all the messages. Azalea

Hey Y'all, my new book "Makin' Groceries" is now available at Amazon, (but they only carry the paperback). The hardback should be ordered by calling 1-866-308-6235. In addition to bookstores, the new book will be carried by many grocery stores across Louisiana & Texas. Remember, The New Orleans Public Library Rebuilding Project will receive a donation from each copy sold. Of course, as always, all information can be found at my website, (along with beautiful illustration samples by the illustrator of "Makin' Groceries" Lee Brandt Randall) See... www.LouisianaBoy.com The Book Launching Party will be at The Shaw Center on Saturday, March 8, 2008, in Baton Rouge, the event is free and the general public is invited! That will be followed by a tour of bookstores, schools & libraries in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Houston, Dallas, Austin & San Antonio from mid-March until late Summer. Appreciatively, Todd-Michael St. Pierre Below is the link to "Makin' Groceries" on Amazon... Check out the cover... Happy Mardi Gras Season, have some King Cake on King's Day, 12th Night or Epiphany, whatever you call TODAY, January 6th!... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/141968325X/ref=pe_5050_7851720_pe_snp_25X
