Why You Love Louisiana
Good food, great music, lovely people......
Your Favorite Louisiana Bands
Depends on my mood at the time
Your Favorite Louisiana Food
Good old gumbo, stuffed crab and shrimp, my own shrimp creole (can't get it in any restaurant, sorry!).
Your Favorite Louisiana Memories
Crabbing in the lake at the old dance pavillion.
Your Favorite Places to Visit in Louisiana
I used to love to visit New Orleans , Bourbon Street, and eat the good old muffaletas.. This was prior to the violence in the city now. Now, I will just take central and north Louisiana to visit and explore and pray for New Orleans to one day be the great city she once was.
Things you have not done in Louisiana, but would like to
I would like to visit ALL of the great plantations!!
Your Hurricane Story
I evacuated with my Yorkie and my 21 year old cat to Winnfield, La, to the home of my cousin. While there, I amused myself an my dog with drives in the woods in my cousins "mule" (a Kawasaki Mule). What fun! My dog even enjoyed sitting on the seat beside me as we bounced along deer paths through the woods to another cousin's beautiful new home. Life is easy and slow in Winn Parish and I sure enjoyed my mini vacation, thanks to Rita. Of course, the first couple of days were not pleasant, as I walked the floor and alternately cried and prayed that the huge oak limbs over my home had not fallen through or that my son and his dog were still alive. Little did I know that he and his best friend had a generator, a fridge full of beer and were enjoying my being gone! The limbs held, the damage was minimal compared to the coastal areas of Cameron and Holly Beach, and the electricity and phones were back on within days. I was very fortunate!!! This was my first evacuation for a hurricane, having ridden out a few in my time. I think it is worse evacuating all you know to wait in silence for the unknown to happen.

My latest novel starring Cajuns is now available. Check this out Cajun Cousins. Lionel Lionel A. LaVergne was born in the small community of La Pointe Noir, Louisiana. Until he was six he spoke only French at home. In the first grade in the country school of Sweet Lake, Louisiana he learned English. The first story he read entranced him, opening his eyes to the power of the written word. He joined the USAF in 1955 and four years later, after his honorable discharge, he moved to the Houston, Texas area. Reading has always been one of his passions, now writing has been added. Owning and operating his own business for years he didn’t have the time to indulge this need to write. After retiring in 2002 he found the time for this second obsession. Today he lives in Spring, Texas with his wife Monna and Poco, the smartest dog in the world. To learn more about Lionel visit his site at www.booksbylavergne.com “Judgment at John's Hollow” by Lionel LaVergne Buy from MBaM at Samhain Publishing.
