Your Favorite Louisiana Memories
My first BB gun at age 6. My uncle teaching me how to use a gun safely and how to hunt. My first shotgun a .410 given to me at age 9 by my uncle. Going rabbit hunting with he and my grandfather with my 410. Again he taught me how to use the gun safely. He had me shoot a pumpkin with that gun from about 30 feet away. It blew that pumpkin up. After looking at it he told me that the gun would do the same damage to a human's head. He taught me to always handle a gun as it was loaded at all times and to be aware constantly as to where the barrel was pointing. My grandfather and uncle taught me alot.
Growing up in Acadian Acres and the fun times my friends and I had hunting, fishing, catching snakes, killing venomous snakes, playing sandlot football, baseball. Walking along the ditches with a net catching crawfish, fish, turtles, etc. We would leave our houses early and our mother's only instructions were to be home before the street lights came on. Boy that was freedom and fun to be able to not worry about all the weirdos we have running around today that prey on our kids, my grandkids.
Playing football for Susan Terrell school and New Iberia Senior High.

Your Favorite Places to Visit in Louisiana
I love bassfishing at Toledo Bend Lake. I have fished there for years and can no longer go because of my back. Maybe someday the doctors will have new medical technology that will allow them to fix my back. For now all I can do is pray for that technology.

Your Hurricane Story
Hilda was my worst hurricane. It came up through Vermillion Bay (Cypermort Point) and hit New Iberia full force. I was 14 and that was the first hurricane my dad took us to a shelter for and I am glad he did. The winds reached 165 MPH and we were trapped like rats. The shelter was the Texaco office building and you could see most of Acadian acres. They were picking people up and bringing them to the shelter in an amphibuous car until the winds reached 95 and then they had to quit because they could not
stand in the wind. We could still see flash lights in the neighborhood flashing the SOS signal but nothing could be done for them. I swore to myself that I would take a bus northward for the next one.
